Technical Note
Roller Palm Printer, PI-21 and LE-21
The Roller Palm Printer is an effective and mess-free way to collect palm prints from detainees and prospective applicants. The Roller Palm Printer incorporates a small diameter ink roller and card roller to eliminate creases and provide more detailed minutiæ. The ink formulations used in the Roller Palm Printer will not leave a lasting stain on the skin, is hypo-allergenic and dries immediately without smudging on the palm print cards. The Roller Palm Printer comes in two styles, black ink using our washable Perfect Ink or inkless using our patented red chemistry. With either product, clean, clear and archivable prints will be produced.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
The Roller Palm Printer has two rollers. The left roller is the inking roller. It is impregnated with either red or black ink or inkless red solution. The second roller is the hard cardholder roller. This roller has a groove to insert the print card. Insert the bottom of the card into the groove. The top of the card should be free.
Holding the tips of the fingers and the wrist of the person to be printed, place the wrist just below the heel of the palm on the inking roller. With slight pressure, pull the hand over the roller toward the tips of the fingers. The thumb and fingers should have even contact with the ink roller.
With the palm print card inserted at the top of the card roller, place the upper wrist on the base of the palm printer and repeat the same motion to ink the hand.
Remove the card from the card roller and turn the card over. Insert into the slot again and repeat the process with the other hand.
When palm printing is complete, pull the metal roller cover back over the ink roller.
PI-23 Information
The PI-21 ink roller is impregnated with a patented stain-free black ink formulation. The residues left on the hand can easily be removed with a wet towel or ink removing towelette. The ink will dry immediately on the card and will not smear or smudge.
LE-23 Information
The LE-21 ink roller is impregnated with a patented stain-free red ink formulation. The residues left on the hand can be easily removed with a wet towel or ink removing towelette. The ink will dry immediately on the card and will not smear or smudge. To develop the prints to black, the palm print card must be processed through either the Digit 10® or IdentaPrint® units.
Replacement Roller
Replacement rollers are available for each unit. To remove the used roller, wrap the roller in a paper towel and, grasping with your hand, unsnap the roller from the carriage. Discard the roller in the trash. To replace the new roller, hold the roller by both spindles and press into the cradle. Do not wrap the new roller with a towel as lint will be deposited on the surface and will leave imperfect prints.
